Kara is catering contractor's manager only, so she does not have tge
building reservation schedule, or authority to quote prices for the bldg.
That will be an add-on.

But her 1st-cut quote sounded like low-end simple Sat. Night dinner (food
only, probably) could be $20, and range up to $30.

Venue fee for Soda Center building is renowned for being lowest cost in the
area, according to other clients.

She it's also more negotiable.

She thinks Septv7 might well be open, as she has seen tge schedule, and it
looked pretty empty in Sept.

Ironically, it would cost more at Oliver Hall, where most summer school,
camps, & multi-day conferences operate as a dining hall, breakfast, lunch &
dinner.

I didn't ask for a quote for breakfast. She projected that in there. Could
be a benefit if launching group hikes from there.

She said she hikes up to the cross on the hill every morning. But
permission for local hikes, tours, ballfield, and possible lunch in the
redwood grove are all up to Karen Cresci and Jaime Scobel at MECS
(Meetings, Events & Conference Support).

If folks are staying at motels in Lafayette, Walnut Creek, Berkeley, etc.,
then the drives to Moraga the back way could be adventures in themselves.

Once in Moraga they might not want to scatter off to find own lunches.
Although, maybe a sandwich at Safeway or tge former Kay's Carousel, or
Giant Hamburger in Theem would be appealing too.

However, distance away from motels, and need to get back there for showers
and evening clothes -- and maybe a nap -- could make 2 drives to Moraga's
farthest corner less appealing than Orinda, & Hwy 24.

One big advantage of Soda Hall is it's their high-end venue, for big civic
events, and would not incur an extra fee for transport of China, glassware,
etc. across campus, as its all stored there.

Plenty of space for dancing. Some of our beautiful classmates seemed to
enjoy dancing, in their floor-length shoulderless gowns.

Sound system for music and mic already installed. Kitchen on-site. They
handle setup & cleanup.

If y'all want to skip the formal gowns
and fancy food menues to stay cheap for retiree budgets, then don't need
such a big Hall, nor a menu with choices of steak, fish & chicken, and
decisions on salmon vs other species, popping prices, etc.
